Ingredients

  • Baking spray with flour
  • 1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • cup 4 ounces unsalted butter, softened
  • cup canola oil
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 5 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 vanilla bean pod split (or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)
  • 6 ounces 60% bittersweet chocolate
  • 4 cups (about 17 ounces all-purpose flour
  • teaspoon baking powder
  • cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350�F.
  • Grease cake pan with 1 tablespoon shortening and dust with 1 tablespoon flour.
  • Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  • Beat cream cheese, butter, and shortening in another bowl until airy.
  • Add eggs one at a time and beat well.
  • Gradually add flour mixture and beat until smooth.
  • Mix in vanilla.
  • Pour batter into cake pan.
  • Bake for 55-60 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool cake in pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
  • Place cake on a serving platter and dust with powdered sugar.
  • Slice, serve, and enjoy!
