Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1.3 pounds skinless boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 3 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp cooking Sake
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil,�optional
  • 1 shallot green onion stem
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 4 cups broccoli florets,�lightly steamed
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp Mirin
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

Instructions

  • Heat cooking oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  • Stir fry chicken until lightly browned and crisp, stirring occasionally.
  • In a small jug or bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sugar, Sake/vinegar, Mirin, and sesame oil. Set aside.
  • Add minced garlic to the center of the pan and saut� until lightly fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  • Pour in the sauce and cook, stirring, until thickened into a shiny glaze (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add steamed broccoli to the pan.
  • Garnish with green onion slices.
  • Serve over steamed rice.

Notes

  • Swap out the garlic for 1/2 teaspoon of minced ginger. You can use both if you like.
  • If your sauce hasn't thickened, whisk in the cornstarch/water mixture and keep stirring until it's syrupy.
  • If it's too thick, add water gradually until it's the thickness you want.
