Easy Butterfly Shrimp Recipe

– Deep fryer or skillet – Oil thermometer –Large Bowl – Whisk – Tongs or slotted spoon – Baking sheet or plate lined with paper towels

EQUIPMENT

– 1 pound  large shrimp, peeled and deveined and butterflied – 1,1/2 cups cornstarch – 2 cups fresh bread crumbs – 1 quart water – 2 eggs – 5 cups oil for deep frying

INGREDIENTS

– Start by heating oil in your deep fryer or skillet. To cook shrimp golden brown, we want it to achieve 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). – Mix water, cornstarch, and eggs in a large bowl. This smooths the batter and coats the shrimp well.

INSTRUCTIONS

– To butterfly shrimp, make a lengthwise incision across the middle of each one. – Dunk each shrimp in the batter. Cover them completely. – Roll each shrimp in breadcrumbs. We want them well-coated for a crispy fry.
