Equipment

  • Muddler
  • Cocktail glasses
  • Strainer

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1 lemon lemon peel preferably organic for zest
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cup berry nectar store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup sparkling water chilled
  • ice as needed ice cubes

Instructions

  • Place the sliced strawberries in a cocktail shaker or large glass.
  • Add the honey and the berry nectar to the strawberries. Use a muddler to gently mash the berries, releasing their juice and mixing the honey for a fragrant, sweet aroma.
  • Use a vegetable peeler or a zester to peel thin strips of lemon peel, avoiding the bitter white pith. Add the lemon zest to the muddled mixture for a bright, citrusy scent.
  • Fill two cocktail glasses with ice cubes to chill them well, ensuring your drinks stay cold and sparkling.
  • Divide the berry mixture evenly between the two glasses, straining out any large pulp if desired, to keep the drink smooth and visually appealing.
  • Top each glass with chilled sparkling water, pouring slowly to preserve the bubbles and create a festive, fizzy effect.
  • Gently stir the drinks with a straw or spoon to blend the flavors, allowing the fruit, citrus zest, and honey to harmonize.
  • Garnish with additional fresh berries or lemon peel if desired, and serve immediately to enjoy the effervescent sparkle and vibrant flavors.

Notes

To enhance the citrus aroma, slightly torch the lemon peel before adding it to the drink, but do so cautiously to avoid bitterness. For a sweeter mixture, adjust the honey amount to taste. If the drink becomes too tart, add a splash of water or more honey to balance the flavors.
