Ingredients

  • Chicken thighs bone-in and skin-on – 4 pieces
  • Garlic minced – 4 cloves
  • Butter – 3 tablespoons
  • Olive oil – 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh asparagus – 1 bunch
  • Chicken broth or white wine optional – 1/4 cup
  • Lemon juice – 1 lemon
  • Salt – to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper – to taste
  • Fresh parsley or thyme optional garnish – 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  • Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat
  • Place chicken skin-side down and cook for 6–7 minutes
  • Turn chicken and cook another 6–7 minutes
  • Remove chicken from skillet and set aside
  • Add butter and garlic to the skillet
  • Cook briefly until fragrant
  • Add asparagus and sauté for 3–4 minutes
  • Pour in broth or white wine to deglaze the pan
  • Return chicken to the skillet
  • Add lemon juice and simmer until chicken reaches 165°F (74°C)
  • Garnish with fresh herbs before serving

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle chopped herbs over the dish before serving. You can also add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a subtle heat. The dish pairs beautifully with crusty bread or a light salad.
