  • In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the waffles light and fluffy.
  • Pour enough batter into the ghost-shaped waffle mold to fill it about ⅔ to ¾ full. Do not overfill, as the batter will expand while cooking and may spill over the edges.

  • Close the waffle maker and cook for 3–5 minutes, or according to your waffle maker’s instructions, until the ghost waffle is golden, crisp around the edges, and releases easily from the plates.
  • Carefully remove the ghost waffle using a silicone spatula or wooden utensil and transfer it to a cooling rack. Repeat with the remaining batter.

Notes

  • Keep waffles crisp: Place cooked waffles on a cooling rack instead of stacking them to prevent them from becoming soft.
  • Make ghost shapes: Use a ghost-shaped waffle maker or cut regular round waffles into ghost silhouettes with a knife.
  • Use frosting for better designs: Whipped cream is lighter, but vanilla frosting holds ghost shapes longer for Halloween parties.
  • Prepare ahead: Make waffles ahead of time and reheat them in a toaster or oven before decorating.
  • Storage: Store leftover waffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freezing: Freeze plain waffles for up to 3 months. Thaw and decorate before serving.
