  • 4 cups water plus more as needed

Instructions

  • Place the pumpkin chunks, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and orange peel into a large saucepan.
  • Pour in the water, enough to cover the ingredients about halfway, and turn the heat to medium-high.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, watching for small bubbles to form around the edges and the house to start filling with a warm, pumpkin-spiced aroma.
  • Reduce the heat to low to maintain a gentle simmer; this helps release the fragrance gradually without boiling away the water too quickly.
  • Check the water level occasionally, adding more hot water when it gets too low to keep the scent simmering steadily.
  • Simmer for about 20-30 minutes, allowing the spices and pumpkin to release their fragrances, filling your home with a cozy seasonal aroma.
  • Once the scent is at its peak and the mixture looks fragrant and steamy, turn off the heat and carefully remove the larger spice sticks and orange peel with tongs or a slotted spoon.
  • Pour the remaining fragrant liquid into a bowl or directly enjoy the simmering scent, letting the warm aroma create a cozy mood.

Notes

Keep an eye on the water level and adjust heat to prevent burning. You can add a splash of vanilla extract or a few drops of orange essential oil to enhance the scent as desired.
