  • Add the cinnamon sticks and ground cinnamon to the saucepan with the apples.
  • Pour in water, ensuring the apples and spices are submerged and the mixture is about halfway full.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the water to a gentle simmer, listening for soft bubbling and aromatic steam.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer gently for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the apples are soft and fragrant, and the liquid has thickened slightly.
  • Stir occasionally to ensure the flavors meld and the apples release their aroma, filling your space with a warm, spicy scent.
