Equipment

Ingredients

  • 8 slices White or Whole Wheat Bread
  • 1 Large Cucumber
  • 3 tbsp Unsalted Butter or Cream Cheese
  • Salt & Black Pepper to taste
  • Mint Leaves
  • Lemon Zest
  • Thin Tomato or Radish Slices

Instructions

  • Peel the Cucumber
Peel the cucumber first so the slices stay soft and delicate.
    Peel the Cucumber
  • Slice It Thinly
Slice it as thin as, can almost paper-thin, so the layers stay light and crisp.

  • Remove Excess Moisture
Place the slices on a paper towel and sprinkle a tiny bit of salt to draw out extra water.

  • Prepare the Spread
While the cucumbers rest, soften butter or cream cheese so it spreads smoothly.
    Prepare the Spread
  • Add a Little Flavor
Stir in fresh dill, lemon, or a pinch of pepper, a small upgrade that makes the spread feel more homemade.
  • Spread the Bread
Coat both slices of bread with a generous layer of butter or cream cheese so the cucumbers don’t make the sandwich soggy.
    Spread the Bread
  • Add the Cucumbers
Lay the slices in a single, slightly overlapping layer, sprinkle a bit of pepper or herbs, and gently close the sandwich.
    Add the Cucumbers
  • Trim and Cut
Remove the crusts and slice the sandwich into neat rectangles or triangles. It makes them look clean, light, and classic.
    Trim and Cut
  • Serve Right Away
I like to serve these as soon as they’re cut, the bread is soft, the cucumbers are crisp, and everything tastes clean and fresh.
